Glebe Stud

About us

Glebe Stud was purchased in 1992 and is owned and managed by Mrs. Julia Scott. A Jockey Club Member, Julia also acts as a Steward at Newmarket and Huntingdon. She has extensive experience in the racing industry and has had spells in the offices of Racecourse Holdings Trust, bloodstock agent James Wigan, and trainers Alec Stewart and William Huntingdon. She previously administered the Alex Scott Memorial Fund Assistant Trainers' Scholarship, set up in memory of her late husband, the trainer Alex Scott, but this has now been taken on by BHEST. This Fund gives the opportunity for the winner to spend one month with the trainer of their choice in various parts of the world, such as Australia and the USA.

The resident Stud Groom is Michael Greaves who joined Glebe Stud in 2008 and gained valuable experience under recently retired Stud Groom Graham Nicklin, who won the Godolphin Stud Staff Award in 2012. Michael previously worked in a breaking yard and was also a show jumping groom for Maureen Holden. He is a qualified HGV driver and electrician. He was awarded a TBA Stud Staff Award in 2013

Gareth Harris was recruited to the workforce at Glebe Stud in August 2013. Past employment includes being a groom at the NEH and before that he was with Patrick Biancone in the USA.

Gardener Charlie Jones also works part time on the stud during busy periods.
